From the Adriatic to the Apennines: Biker’s Tour in Forlì-Cesena hinterland

1st day: Monti della Campigna and Historic Villages (ca. 175 km)

Departure from Forlì, a city rich in history and culture. We will travel along a pleasant road through vineyards and green hills, leading us to Castrocaro Terme, a charming village known for its thermal baths. From here, we will continue toward the Monti della Campigna, a protected natural area within the Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona, and Campigna National Park. The road is narrow and winding, perfect for motorcyclists, with landscapes changing from green hills to denser forests as we ascend.

In the afternoon, we will continue to climb until we reach the Passo del Muraglione, the border between Emilia Romagna and Tuscany, surrounded by breathtaking views—perfect for a photo stop! We will then descend through the valley, passing by historic and characteristic villages such as S. Benedetto in Alpe and Portico di Romagna. A short break for a coffee or a refreshing drink along the return route before reaching the hotel.

2nd day: Ridracoli Dam and Savio Valley (ca. 190 km)

Departure from Forlì toward the Ridracoli Dam, located in the unspoiled nature of the Casentino Forests. Here, you can admire the crystal-clear waters of Lake Ridracoli, an artificial reservoir in the municipality of Bagno di Romagna, created to supply the aqueduct and the adjacent hydroelectric power station. Along with the majestic dam, the surrounding natural beauty offers a wonderful observation point. You can also enjoy a boat excursion on the lake to experience the peace and silence of nature.

In the afternoon, we will descend along the Savio Valley, traveling on scenic roads surrounded by nature and charming villages: Bagno di Romagna, Sarsina, and Mercato Saraceno. Stop at the village of Sogliano al Rubicone, home of the famous “Formaggio di Fossa.” We will visit the production site and enjoy a tasting of this unique cheese, as well as a tour of the unusual and fascinating “Museum of the Disc.” Afterward, we return to the hotel.

3rd day: Tramezzo Valley and Brisighella (ca. 135 Km)

Departure from Forlì for an immersive excursion in the Tramazzo Valley, surrounded by the gentle landscape of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines. We will travel through the valley, stopping in small villages, each with its own characteristics and curiosities, such as Modigliana and Tredozio. A stop for lunch at a local restaurant or agriturismo, offering a delicious traditional menu.

In the afternoon, the level of the ride increases as we face winding roads, true Apennine serpentines, leading us to cross other valleys and reach the village of Brisighella. This medieval gem, nestled in the Regional Park of the Vena del Gesso, is dominated by the Rocca Manfrediana, which rises on the Three Hills that also host the Monticino Sanctuary and the Clock Tower.
We will make a stop to taste the famous “Olio Brisighello,” Italy’s first olive oil to obtain Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status in 1996. At the end of the day, we return to the hotel. We will conclude this journey with a dinner featuring traditional fish dishes and excellent local wine!
